| Callie Essman Adams. She was born in 1879(?) in Scott County, Arkansas, her parents were Thomas Benjamin and Nancy Virginia (Lane) Essman. On July 31, 1897 Callie (18) of Brawley Township, Scott County, Arkansas married William David Adams (27) from Heavener, Sugar Loaf County, Indian Territory. After David Adams died in 1912 Callie (25 or 35?) was later married, on April 10th, 1914, James Adams (23) of Brawley Township, Scott County, Arkansas by A. F. Smith, County Judge. She was a sister to Clay and Stonewall Jackson Essman. (NOTE: Ages and Dates don't agree for Callie) |
Joseph Dee Essman, he went by the name "Dee" and was better known by that name. He was born October 1, 1910 and died November 2, 1966. He lived on Jones Creek in Scott County, Arkansas all of his life. The Unity Baptist Church seen on Page 10 of the Today section on this web site was built on land originally given by Dee Issman for the community school which then later became the church. |

| Leland Essman - a remembrance to him. His parents were Thomas Benjamin and Nancy Virginia Lane Essman, he was born in March, 1897 in Scott County, Arkansas. Leland was a brother to Callie, Clay and Stone J. Essman. His son Vernon is still living in Topeka, Kansas, he is in his eighties. |
