Mae Farmer and Myrtle Mae and Myrtle with Grandmothers Myrtle Cook Sorrels
Matilda Mae Farmer Cook and daughter Myrtle (born in 1905). Mae's full name was Matilda Mae Farmer and was the daughter of George W. and Mary B. Farmer of Bates. Mae was married to Oliver Cook and lived at Gipson until 1909 when he past away. She married James Arthur Hill of Cauthron on March 20, 1910, she was 21 and Arthur was 26. Matilda Mae and Myrtle Cook with Grandmothers - 4 generations. Mary B. Farmer (Mae's mother) on left and Mary J. McKissick (Mae's grandmother) on the right. Myrtle Cook Sorrels. Myrtle married Tonnie (Tony) Sorrels from Bates on June 17, 1923. Myrtle was 18, Tonnie was 22 when they married.

Tonnie Sorrels Tonnie with Tilmon Tonnie Sorrels and Friends
Tonnie Sorrels of Bates, Arkansas. He was known as Tony Sorrels in Texas but his given name was actually Thaddeus Constant Sorrels. Tonnie with Tilmon Sorrels near Whitfield (not far from Briartown), Oklahoma. Tilmon was killed in World War II in "The Battle of the Bulge" in 1944. He was in a U.S. Army Airborne unit. Tonnie (Tony) on the left with Ed Neill on the right, young man in the middle is not known.

Logan Burns (?) with his horse and a large building in background. What is that building? Could it be the hotel that was in Bates? Logan was the son of James T. and Louanna Burns. James Tom Burns Jr. (son of Thomas H. Burns) with his wife Louannie (Sorrels) Burns and sister-in-law Minnie (Sorrels) Pottridge Sliger, wife of John F. Sliger. Joann Sorrels was mother of Louannie and Minnie. Photo about 1920(?). Children of Ed and Minnie (Sorrels) Pottridge - Edgar, Charlie, and Dessie. Ed was killed in Texas while working, Minnie later married John Sliger and died when she was 91 years of age. Dessie died at the age of 29.

Logan and Maude (Kendrix) Burns from Bates. Logan was son of James T. and Louanna Burns, Maude was daughter of Joseph and Zona Kendrix. Logan (21) and Maude (24) married January 9, 1931 Logan Burns on right with Don Stinson. Thomas Brownlee and his wife Maggie. They lived in Bates in 1930 and had 2 children - Charlene and Geneva. His parents were John and Mary Brownlee. His father was from Scotland and was a Fire Boss in the Coal Mines.
