| Children and Teachers by old Gipson School House. Do you know the year? Do you know any of the people? (The white blop over the womans head was a tear in the surface of the photo.) |
The Cook Store in Gipson in about 1910. It was on north-east corner of road from Bates and road on north side of Gipson Cemetery hill. James S. Cook is the man in the back-center with bib over-alls on. Boy second from left in front with a hat on is possibly Raymond Cook, oldest son of James Cook. |

| Boss Sliger, J. Otto Cook, Elsia Haywood and unknown boy at north-west corner of the Bates School House. Otto Cook was born in 1914, so if he is about 6 or 7 years old in this picture that puts the year about 1920 or 21.
| A group of young ladies at Bates in about 1914. First lady on right is Bealuh Bethel (?), 4th lady on right is Bertha Lemay. Note the photographers wagon in the background. |

| Baptism south of Bates, Arkansas on Shadley Creek in 1940's(?). Rev. Gene Shelton was pastor (on left in creek) conducting baptism service. Notice the cars on the road in the background. |

| School class at Cauthron in about 1951. Leon Abbott is first boy on left in the front row. Boy on front row, first on the right is Tommy Kirk with an Oldaker (?) boy behind him. Also the 4th boy from left, middle row is an Oldaker (?) boy. The last girl on the right in top row is Betty Tull. The tall, blonde girl in about the center of the front row and the boy second from right in the back row were William "Bill" Austins grandchildren, sorry we don't have their names at this time. We do know she became a nurse and he became a doctor of medicine. Let us know if you can identify others in the picture. |
Cotton picking settlement ticket-receipt for amount picked and paid to picker- Arthur Hill in 1918.

| The old Poteau River Bridge at Gipson from south approach. For years that was one of the worse bridges around, just a few old boards to drive on, steel as rusty as all get-out and it felt like it was swinging a long with you. |
At top is a receipt for Union Dues to United Mechanics Union in 1919, below is a U.S. Draft Registration card for World War I in 1918. Both are for James Arthur Hill of Bates.
